'She's my cherry pie' cherry pie!

'Cool drink of water, such a sweet surprise.
Tastes so good, make a grown man cry,
Sweet cherry pie.'

Actually a cool drink of milk and my cherry pie. Cherry pie from 'Therapy Bread' to be precise.

Follow Jessica's recipe and you too can be 'swingin' on the front porch,' with your own cherry pie!

The web site 'Therapy Bread' is full of great, delicious, and very do-able recipes. And Jessica, the blogger behind the blue eyes mixes a fresh, friendly, and family atmosphere into each of her great recipe posts.

The cherry pie started with these ingredients:
(minus the eggs, I don't know how they got in there, lol. I have gotten so used to putting eggs in every recipe I just naturally figured they had to be in the picture.)(and I actually used almond extract not vanilla)

Check out the 'Therapy Bread' for full ingredients and recipe.

 So begins the crust...

I think this is how it is supposed be. At this point I am going by faith never having done this before.

The cherry ingredients was easy. Just pour them into a bowl...

Roll out the dough.. (butter chunks can still be seen. Maybe I should have let the mix go a little longer but the crust was delicious and flaky. I don't think this hurt anything)

Roll on to the pie pan... I trimmed the edges, of course.

Cut the strips for the lattice covering.

The pie filling into the pie shell... (Kinda overflowed)

And Voila! Lattice pie! Lattice cherry pie, that is.

After 50 minute, just like the lady said... we have pie.

Notice my added artistic interpretation, the bow tie. I had some dough left over so I improvised.

Over all impression? I was a bit sloppy. The edges ran over but hey, better out than in I always say :) I could have done a better job with the crust. I might not have mixed the flour, shortening, and butter as well as I should but it non-the-less tastes heavenly (as my 8 year old said.)

The crust was flaky and tasty and the filling was very delicious.

I don't expect this pie to last when the kids get home.

Follow the recipe in the links above and you too can 'put a smile on your face ten miles wide'.

I'm so glad it turned out well for you! I love cherry pie it is one of my all-time favorites and should be a bit sloppy IMHO haha. Although i guess you could keep out a bit of the filling if you find it's too much for your pie pan. Looks beautiful, I like the extra artistic touch! Thanks for sharing the link to my page!
